American Heart Association Fund Raiser at Bliss Salon and Spa

Bliss Salon is showing that a hair salon in Lafayette IN can always make a difference!

Jessica, one of Bliss’s excellent stylists, will be donating her time on Friday, August 12th from 9 am to 10:30 am to put in red Lox party extensions. All proceeds will go to benefit the American Heart Association.

Pricing for the hair extensions will be $10 for the first and $5 for each additional. This special pricing is available only Friday, August 12th and only with Jessica.

Black Friday is known for getting up extremely early, waiting in lines to get special holiday deals, and EXHAUSTION!

Bliss Salon and Spa will be offering a break from all the lines and chaos on Friday, November 26th from 12:00 – 3:00 (that’s PM not AM – we will be in bed at that time, thank you!).

The event will be held at Bliss Salon and Spa from 12:00 – 3:00 and will feature local vendors of handmade jewelry, Pampered Chef (kitchen utensils), Scentsy (candles), Thirty One (purses and bags), Wild Tree Food (healthy snacks for the holidays), and live presentations from Benedict Flowers to give ideas on holiday décor.

According to Bliss Salon and Spa owner, Bethany Tyrrell, “I wanted to offer something different for area residents, so they could take a break during the busiest shopping day of the year. Our stylists and spa personnel have the day off, so we’ve decided to offer refreshments and entertainment free of charge to the community.”

Tyrrell goes on, “The response from area vendors has been terrific. People do not have to be Bliss customers to enjoy the day – we are inviting everyone and we encourage people to bring their family members. We can’t think of a better kickoff to the holiday season than offering tired shoppers a break.” Bliss will be serving complimentary holiday snacks as well as a season favorite – hot chocolate. Bliss will also be reducing gift certificate purchases by 20% as well as many other specials for the day.

A stone massage is one that utilizes smooth and flat stones that are heated. These stones are then placed at key points on the body.

The stones normally used are typically are known as basalt rocks. Basalt rocks are known for their high heat retention qualities. The stones are normally placed in water and heated to a certain temperature range. Once the stones reach the desired temperature, they are then placed on the body. The positioning is normally on specific points on the back but can also be placed on other body parts such as in between toes and in the palms of hands.

The main reason that massage therapists use this technique is that the heat of the rocks causes muscles to relax. This relaxing allows the therapist to apply deeper, more precise pressure if desired or necessary.
